Course sections must be scheduled in the appropriate range. There are 3 ranges and sections should be scheduled and numbered as follows:
- Range 1 section numbers: 001 – 299, Primary component type. Single-component offerings always exist in Range 1. This includes Seminars and Independent Study sections and other component types (LEC, FLD, etc.) when they are the only component offered.
- Range 2 section numbers: 301 – 599, Second component type. These are typically discussions or labs and exist as part of an enrollment package in combination with a range 1 component.
- Range 3 section numbers: 601 – 899, Third component type. These are also typically discussions or labs and exist as a part of an enrollment package in combination with a range 1 and range 2 component.
Reminders: do not ever repeat a section number, even if sections exist in different sessions. For additional information related to course section and association set up, please review the Class Associations KB .
