Canceled Sections & Issuing Late Permissions

As part of the DIR tasks and reporting accurate instruction on campus the Office of the Registrar runs an administrative process to cancel class sections with no enrollment. This occurs during Week 5* of the Fall and Spring term, and includes IND sections. These canceled sections will remain visible in Curricular & Enroll Rep WorkCenter > Maintain Schedule of Classes, but the Enrollment Control tab will show a Class Status of “Canceled Section”. If a department wants to allow late enrollment after a section is canceled, you will need to change the section to “Active” via the drop-down in the “Class Status” field.

On a related note, class permissions only work on Active, Enrollment sections. Prior to entering a permission, it’s important to check for a Class Status of “Active” and a Class Type of “Enrollment Section”.

If an IND section has been canceled due to no enrollment, you’ll also see a Class Status of “Canceled Section” and will have to reactivate the section (as described above) before the permission will work for student enrollment.

*This cancellation process occurs much later in summer terms, in mid- to late-August.
