Warner elected to AACRAO Board of Directors

Interim University Registrar Beth Warner has been elected to the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers’ (AACRAO) Board of Directors, the organization announced Thursday.

As the Vice President for Records and Academic Services, Warner will use her expertise working at the intersection of academic policies and student record and compliance standards to help national leaders address the issues facing higher education at a pivotal moment in time.

She will also be tasked with supporting professional growth and development for AACRAO’s more than 15,000 members.

“This role is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the important work of our profession, which is critically important to the future of the academy,” Warner says. “Being elected to a leadership position of an organization that has directly influenced my professional progression means the world to me. I look forward to collaborating with colleagues to advance AACRAO’s mission and support our shared goals.”

A tireless advocate for higher education and student success, Warner has served in a variety of roles for AACRAO and its Wisconsin chapter, WACRAO, starting in 2006. Earlier this year, she represented AACRAO during its annual “Hill Day,” speaking with five Wisconsin lawmakers’ teams about issues facing the University of Wisconsin–Madison and academia.

“Beth’s contributions to UW–Madison are immense and her impact will last generations” says Scott Owczarek, associate vice provost for enrollment management and university registrar. “This leadership role will allow Beth to use her talents and experience to benefit registrars and admissions officers across the country while embodying our mission to be a national model for our profession. The Registrar’s Office would not be what it is without her.”

Warner joined the Office of the Registrar in 2013. She will resume her role as Deputy University Registrar at the beginning of December, coinciding with Owczarek’s return to the University Registrar role following his interim leadership of the Office of Student Financial Aid.

She will fill the seat currently held by Julia Pomerenk, the university registrar and associate vice president for student services and enrollment management at the University of Oregon.
