Per faculty policy, two evening examination periods have been established for daytime classes that require exams outside of their regularly scheduled class hours.
- The first period is from 5:45 to 7:15 PM. Exams may begin anytime in this window but must end by 7:15 PM.
- The second period begins at 7:30 PM and will accommodate longer exams.
Evening midterms may not spill into the transition time of 7:15 to 7:30 PM.
Curricular representatives should make students aware of evening midterms via a class note. Instructors should also note the dates and times of evening examinations in the syllabus.
General Assignment (GA) classroom requests for evening midterms should be submitted via 25Live, keeping in mind our timeline and processes for GA event requests. As with final exams, evening midterms may be assigned multiple classrooms if a single classroom is unavailable to fill the request.
The evening midterm policy spells out instructors’ obligations regarding conflicts. In addition, instructors are encouraged to proactively avoid conflicts between exams and religious observances when possible. For calendars of major religious observances and additional guidance, visit the Secretary of the Faculty’s website.
