RO serves up some sweetness in appreciation of campus curricular, enrollment reps

A sunny summer afternoon proved a nearly picture-perfect opportunity for the Office of the Registrar (RO) to show its gratitude to the hardworking curricular and enrollment representatives from across the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus.

The RO hosted an ice cream social and appreciation event on the rooftop patio of Nancy Nicholas Hall on July 18, bringing together curricular and enrollment reps as well as members of the RO team with whom they regularly work. While the RO has previously held in-person events and forums to talk about curricular and enrollment topics, there was a desire to do more to say thank you to those who work on the front lines to improve the student experience.

In total, roughly two dozen people enjoyed their favorite Babcock ice cream flavors and camaraderie with their colleagues.

“We wanted an opportunity to say thanks, as well as to provide a time for curricular and enrollment reps to enjoy an afternoon together,” says Curricular Outreach Specialist Kate Kurek, who organized the event. “Reps typically work siloed in their own departments, so coming together to network provides a great opportunity to share ideas and for the RO to hear directly from members of multiple schools and colleges.”

Those invaluable relationships, which lay the foundation for the improvements that benefit tens of thousands of students, advisors, and staff members, are just as sweet as the ice cream. Several promising ideas came up during the event; perhaps by the next ice cream social, the campus community will be reaping the rewards.
