Office of the Registrar expands outreach to help resolve incomplete grades
The Office of the Registrar is expanding final grading outreach efforts to help make sure incomplete grades don’t slip through the cracks.
Beginning with grades awarded for the Fall 2025 term, the RO will send students and instructors updates on any incomplete grades they need to resolve. Students who receive an incomplete grade will need to finish their remaining coursework – and instructors will need to enter a final grade – by the Friday of the eighth week of the next spring or fall term.
The RO will also begin providing regular updates to the academic dean’s office for each school and college so deans can monitor their students’ and instructors’ progress in resolving incomplete grades.
This additional outreach was made possible by a change in campus policy earlier this year that sets one deadline for all undergraduate and university special students to resolve their incomplete grades. Previously, students in the College of Letters and Science had a different deadline than students in other schools and colleges. That made it significantly harder to inform students and instructors of their responsibilities and the relevant timelines.
Incomplete grades should only be awarded in limited cases. Refer to our Valid Grades webpage for more information.
