Grading Honors

Undergraduate grading honors

Undergraduate students expecting to graduate with at least 60 residence credits completed or in progress whose cumulative grade point average places them in the top 20% of their graduating class are invited to wear the honors stole at the Commencement ceremony. Students who meet the same criteria after all course work is completed have "Graduated with Distinction" posted to their academic records. Students who are candidates for honors degrees are invited to the Honors Convocation irrespective of whether they rank in the top 20% of their graduating class. Students receiving honors degrees who qualify under the 20%/60 credit criteria also have "Graduated with Distinction" posted to their academic records.

Students in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, the school of Human Ecology, and the school of Pharmacy who meet the criteria for Graduated with Distinction and rank in the top 5% of their graduating class have "Graduated with Highest Distinction" posted to their academic records.

Other notations of distinguished scholarship such as Dean's List, Distinction in the Major, etc., are also awarded by the various Schools and Colleges and are similarly posted to students' academic records. Questions about these notations should be directed to the student's Dean's office or by consulting the School and College bulletin.
