Student Privacy Rights and Responsibilities through the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is legally and ethically obligated to protect the confidentiality of students' records. The Office of the Registrar provides several resources to help faculty and staff learn about student privacy rights and responsibilities.

A brochure has been developed to help faculty and instructional staff understand student privacy rights and their responsibilities related to these rights.

FERPA Group Training
We offer personalized FERPA training sessions for schools, colleges, departments and other groups interested in learning more about student privacy rights and responsibilities. We are available to provide advice and one-on-one consultation sessions. We offer this service to help faculty and staff become better educated about FERPA, and to help with individual concerns or situations that may arise. FERPA Tutorial
The purpose of the FERPA tutorial is to provide basic online FERPA training for the UW-Madison faculty and staff. To be granted access to students' records in ISIS, or through My-UW Madison, you must complete this tutorial.
