Status Update: Course Guide Project
Fall 2007
Summer has proven to be an exciting time as the UW-Madison Course Guide project team wraps up the requirements gathering phase. Using the rich information learned from our information-sharing sessions, user interface prototypes were developed. These prototypes were a first step in creating a visual representation of a Course Guide. They were shared with small groups of stakeholders who gave us feedback on layout, features and functional concepts. In addition, we sought input on how they might use and incorporate a Course Guide into their day-to-day activities.
The Policy & Content Subcommittee has been meeting monthly since June and will continue to do so in order to advise and make recommendations to the project team and sponsors. Examples of topics to be discussed are policy and procedures, approval processes, maintenance responsibilities and issues related to the content and usability of the Course Guide.
The Course Guide Advisory Group continues to be an important source of feedback on similar topics and provides guidance on outreach.
As summer comes to a close, the project team is working on forming its recommendations for version 1.0 and beyond. We are quickly transitioning into the design phase of the project by preparing use cases. We will continue our outreach to faculty and instructional staff, advisors and department administrators.
